Meet our people

Grosvenor is a company with a long-term vision that offers challenging work that helps you to grow. Some of our people explain some of the reasons behind their decision to develop their careers at Grosvenor.

Charlotte Woods, Senior Researcher

From travelling to European cities she’s never visited before, to being funded to study for her Real Estate Masters qualification, Charlotte sees many benefits in working for our property business in Europe.

Joining a diverse and inclusive workforce Joining a diverse and inclusive workforce

Joining a diverse and inclusive workforce

It’s a vital part of our work to nurture inclusive communities all across London – one of the most diverse cities in the world. That’s why we’re so committed to creating a working culture where people from a wide range of backgrounds, with a diverse range of opinions, thrive. We’re actively working to attract talent from a wider pool. Once people arrive, we’re also committed to making sure they feel included, with initiatives like our Culture Club, which helps to champion a diverse range of groups, and organise annual events suppporting Pride, Black History Month and International Womens' Day.

Reaching out to underrepresented communities

We want to actively reach out to people and communities who might not previously have considered a career at Grosvenor. That’s why we’re partnering with organisations such as Urban Plan and Construction Youth Trust to promote social mobility and encourage young people to work in the world of real estate. This year, we’ll be inviting pupils from a range of schools to join us for a week’s work experience. Thanks to our expanding apprenticeship programme, we’ll also be welcoming more such school leavers to join us full-time.

Listening to different voices

Diversity in a workforce is only truly meaningful if everyone has a voice. That’s why we’re so committed to our reverse mentoring initiative. We partner our executive and senior team leaders with colleagues across Grosvenor. The mentors will often be starting out in their career, or will have a perspective or background very different to the person they’re mentoring. We’re also helping to ensure there’s more of a space for women’s voices in our sector by partnering with organisations like Real Estate Balance, and getting involved in initiatives such as Estates Gazette’s Future Female Leaders programme.

Work-life balance

We’re very serious about helping our people balance their professional and personal lives. Whether they want to work from home one day a week, have a staggered start time, or go on a sabbatical, we have the policies in place that will make it happen.

We’re also proud of our shared parental leave policies and the improved parental leave pay we offer, which make taking time off after a new arrival easier. Health and wellbeing are a priority too, with activities such as yoga and massage available at the office.

Our annual wellbeing and mental health weeks are an opportunity to take part in a range of workshops and try new activities.

Mary Farrell, Senior Lease Manager

One of the reasons I joined Grosvenor was because it was a forward-thinking organisation. Grosvenor has supported me in working flexibly and this has never been seen as a barrier to my development.

Ali Insall, Head of Financial Analysis

I took time off work to look after my son. Grosvenor was hugely supportive throughout, allowing me to drop down to four days a week to spend more time with my family.

Learning and development

There are lots of opportunities for you to learn and develop at Grosvenor. Whether you are a recent graduate, joined from outside the industry or have a traditional property background we will support you to be your best.

We support the 70/20/10 model of learning. 70% is experiential – including secondments, rotations, learning new technology, and being involved in innovative projects. 20% is social learning, through coaching, mentoring and job shadowing.

The final 10% is more formal study, including our core skills programme, face-to-face modules and e-learning. From our inclusive leadership programme, to career workshops and psychometric-based coaching, there’s a huge range of ways to develop your skills.

Many ways to get to know your colleagues

With a Sports and Social Committee to organise activities such as quizzes and sports days throughout the year, our biennial garden party and a London-wide Christmas party, you’ll have lots of opportunities to get to know people from all our different teams – or even organise new activities that reflect your own particular interests.

Thanks to our volunteering days, you’ll also have the chance to help communities across London thrive.

Sustainability and innovation Sustainability and innovation

Sustainability and innovation

We’ve set a really ambitious goal here in the UK – to achieve net zero carbon emissions in all of our managed buildings by 2030 and to work towards all buildings, directly and indirectly-managed, being embodied and operational net zero across our portfolio by 2050.

We’ll also be working to eradicate waste, encourage biodiversity, and tackle air pollution across all of our UK estate. A few of our initiatives include:

A new Supply Chain Charter to help us work towards a greener future with our 1,800 suppliers.

Green roofs and green walls on our buildings, and green lampposts on our streets to absorb air pollutants and capture carbon.

Beehives, parklets, bird boxes and habitat hotels around our London estate to encourage biodiversity.

Our innovation team is responsible for trialling new technologies that will help us achieve our sustainability goals, as well as helping our business adapt to the changing needs of residents, tenants and visitors. We need people with innovative and creative thinking to help us devise and deliver new initiatives.

“We believe our buildings have the potential to improve the future health and wellbeing of those that use them, and I’m proud to work in a business that takes its responsibility to deliver health and wellbeing seriously. By taking an industry lead on investigating air quality for example, we’re working hard to understand how we can positively improve the wellbeing of our people at work, as well as the health of our tenants and visitors."

Rebecca Dwyer
Communications and Marketing Manager

“The built environment contributes around 40% of the UK’s total carbon footprint.  So our sector has to show leadership and ambition to tackle the climate crisis.  Grosvenor Britain and Ireland has been tackling climate change for several years: reducing carbon operational emissions from our properties, eradicating waste from buildings and developments under our control and working to achieve significant net biodiversity gain. We are making progress but we have a huge task ahead, and everyone who works at Grosvenor has a major part to play.”

Victoria Herring
Director of our Sustainability Programme
