Opening up North Mayfair with food market Mercato Metropolitano
Sustainable community food market Mercato Metropolitano is opening its doors in Mayfair this summer in a restored church that has not been used by the public in several years.
We have completed a £5m restoration of the Grade 1 listed St. Mark’s church in Mayfair and are reopening it to the public after decades in private use. It will be home to sustainable community market Mercato Metropolitano, a playground for food lovers and artisan food producers to meet, eat, buy, learn and share, offering cuisines from Britain and around the world.
This will be Mercato Matropolitano’s second site in London, following its successful launch in a former paper factory in Elephand and Castle. The market promotes a healthy and sustainable approach to food by focusing on artisans and local producers and by raising awareness of sustainability through its onsite urban farm, cookery lessons, cultural programmes of films, exhibitions and events.
