The Westminster Nanpeidai
A 52-unit residence in Tokyo, just minutes away from lively Shibuya
The Westminster Nanpeidai, is Grosvenor’s 52-unit residence in Tokyo, intended for individuals, families and couples looking for exceptional design in a cosmopolitan but tranquil Tokyo neighbourhood.
The building is located in Nanpeidai, a quiet and comfortable area that is walking distance to both Shibuya and Daikanyama stations, and is considered one of Tokyo's most desirable residential addresses.
It was the first Japanese refurbishment project for the award-winning British architects Eric Parry Architects, known in the UK and around the world for their pioneering work. The property was meticulously refashioned from an existing building and was completed in 2004 by Sakakura Associates, founded by well-known Japanese architect Junzo Sakakura, who worked for the great modernist Le Corbusier.
Everything from the garden sculptures to the lighting is bespoke and designed to complement the existing architecture. The building also features the work of two Japanese master craftsmen, stone artist Masatoshi Izumi and celebrated traditional clay wall craftsman Syuhei Hasado, resulting in a striking courtyard of great quality.
