Grosvenor Food & AgTech expands investment in jackfruit pioneers

Grosvenor Food & AgTech has continued its investment in The Jackfruit Company, the number one jackfruit brand in the U.S, as part of a $5 million equity investment, accelerating innovation in healthy, delicious and sustainable food options for consumers.

The latest funding round in the pioneering plant-based brand demonstrates strong confidence in its mission to provide nutritious, clean-label alternatives that meet the needs of modern consumers and deliver significant environmental sustainability benefits.

The Jackfruit Company and its brand jack&annie’s provide a range of products with jackfruit as the main ingredient that are available in more than 1,500 retail and food service locations in America.

In addition to announcing the investment, The Jackfruit Company has also launched its latest product, a Beef & Jackfruit Burger in partnership with the Performance Food Group (PFG).

The burger offers consumers a healthier and tasty alternative to traditional beef burgers, combining premium beef with jackfruit—a naturally meat-like, high-fibre, low-fat plant-based ingredient.

This innovative burger blend offers a 40% reduction in saturated fat and 30% less cholesterol compared to a traditional 100% beef burger without sacrificing flavour or texture. The product also boasts significantly higher fibre content, making it a more nutritious option.

Known for its meat-like texture, jackfruit delivers on taste while supporting consumers’ desire for healthier, minimally processed options.

Commenting on the investment, Katrin Burt, Managing Partner at Grosvenor Food & AgTech, said: “We are excited to partner with companies that prioritise consumer health and nutrition while delivering a better food system for the planet. The Jackfruit Company is a pioneer in harnessing the potential of jackfruit to create healthier, clean-label products. This latest collaboration – offering better nutrition with reduced environmental impact – highlights the jackfruit’s growing appeal as a versatile, clean-label ingredient.”

“Our goal has always been to offer delicious, satisfying food that is better for consumers,” said Annie Ryu, CEO of jack & annie’s and The Jackfruit Company. “The support from Grosvenor Food & AgTech and our other investors allows us to accelerate our mission of bringing healthier foods to more people.

“We’re excited to bring this innovation to market in collaboration with PFG. Jackfruit allows us to meet consumer demand for delicious, healthier options while also addressing the challenges of the wider food system.”
