An open air grocery-anchored neighbourhood shopping centre in the heart of the Saanich peninsula
Broadmead Village is an open air grocery-anchored neighbourhood shopping centre located in the heart of the Saanich peninsula on Vancouver Island, BC. An $8.2m sustainability-focused renovation resulted in an overwhelming transformation of Broadmead Village that exemplifies Grosvenor's long term business approach to shaping a sustainable urban landscape.
We improved pedestrian access and public spaces by widening sidewalks and adding covered public seating, a zero carbon fireplace and an interactive fountain. Improvements encourage visitors to stay longer at this sophisticated, open-air, grocery-anchored neighbourhood shopping centre on Vancouver Island. Through the purchase of carbon offsets, the shopping centre's operations have become carbon neutral.
Broadmead Village has achieved Bronze and Silver certification from the Building Owners and Managers Association's (BOMA) Building Environmental Standards program. The program recognizes excellence in energy and environmental management and performance in commercial real estate.
We will continue to steward our sustainable business approach by advancing achievements at Broadmead through the pursuit of BOMA BEST Gold accreditation, educating retailers and customers through informative signs and by using the Centre as an example to educate Grosvenor personnel and related industry professionals.
