Sensitive management of our precious environments is boosting populations of at-risk species

Our environmental stewardship has supported 23 barn owls fledging in the last year as well as successful nests for tawny owls and little owls – all of which their populations are in decline across the UK.

Collaboration between conservation focussed teams across the Eaton Estate and initiatives such as installing owl boxes – of which there are 33 with plans to install many more in the future – improving the habitats and planting a wildflower hay meadow, have benefited the owls as well as many other species on the estate – enhancing biodiversity.

Working with specially trained volunteers from the British Trust for Ornithology, we ring the chicks to contribute to efforts to develop knowledge on the survival, productivity and movements of the birds.
