We choose to manage the land at Abbeystead, Lancashire, more sensitively and it is not intensively farmed.
This has led to the creation of what Natural England described as England's largest continuous and connected upland hay meadow Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) which supports a diverse mix of more than 140 species of herbs and grasses.
We are increasing this area of natural hay meadow from 44 acres to 276 – which will be the equivalent of 10% of the world’s resource by 2045 – enhancing and improving our precious environments.
