Mount Street’s name comes from Mount Field, which included Oliver’s Mount, the remains of fortifications erected during the English civil war. The original street was built in the 1700s. In the late 1800s, with many leases approaching expiry, the first Duke rebuilt the street with the intricately detailed Queen Anne revival style architecture that can still be seen today.
There are 47 retail premises on Mount Street, of which Grosvenor directly control 32. In addition to this, there are 17 market let residential units and 11 offices. We continually invest in the street to support its success – this includes the refurbishment and restoration of the Audley pub, street improvements and the commissioning of the stunning “Silence” water feature by Japanese architect Tadao Ando with the Connaught Hotel.
